The 10 Fastest 1967 Muscle Cars
1967 Dodge Coronet 500
The fastest muscle car in 1967 was the Dodge Coronet 500 426 Hemi rated at 425 horsepower with 490 lb-ft of torque.
In 1967, the top trim level on the Dodge Coronet was the 500 and included wheel covers, center console, bucket seats, and vinyl interior. It was available as a sedan, hardtop, or convertible.
However, the 426 Hemi was never supposed to ever be equipped in a Coronet 500. In fact, the highest displacement engine was supposed to be the 383 CID V8.
Chrysler decided the Hemi should only be available in the Dodge Charger and Coronet R/T and Plymouth Belvedere GTX.
However, according to the March 1967 issue of Rodder/Super Stock magazine, a Hemi-powered 67 Coronet 500 ran a 13.90-second quarter-mile time traveling at 104 miles per hour. At least one was produced for magazine testing purposes.
A 426 Hemi engine added $906 to the sticker of a Coronet R/T and is presumed to be the same on this unicorn Coronet 500.
In total, Dodge produced 32,580 Coronet 500s in 1967.

1967 Oldsmobile 442
Second place goes to the 1967 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 W30 400 rated at 350 horsepower with 440 lb-ft of torque.
The W30 performance package added a hotter cam, stronger valve springs, higher oil pressure, and a cold air induction system. The W-30 package also included Rallye wheels, redline tires, and a trunk-mounted battery.
According to the March 1967 issue of Hot Rod magazine, a 67 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 W30 ran a 13.92-second quarter-mile pass traveling at 104 miles per hour.
In total, Oldsmobile produced 24,827 1967 Oldsmobile 4-4-2s and breaks down to 4,750 Cutlass coupes, 16,998 Cutlass hardtops, and 3,079 convertibles.
Only 502 were equipped with the W30 package.

1967 Pontiac Firebird
Third place goes to the 1967 Pontiac Firebird Ram Air 400, rated at 325 horsepower with 410 lb-ft of torque. 1967 was the debut year for the Firebird 400, and it certainly left its mark on muscle car history.
According to the March 1967 issue of Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazine, a 67 Pontiac Firebird Ram Air 400 went 14.03 seconds in the quarter-mile traveling at 103.6 miles per hour.
In total, 18,635 67 Pontiac Firebird 400 were produced, with only 65 being equipped with the rare and desirable Ram Air option.

1967 Pontiac GTO
Fourth place in the top ten fastest muscle cars of 1967 goes to the 1967 Pontiac GTO 400 Ram Air that produced 360 horsepower with 438 lb-ft of torque.
Pontiac introduced a four-barrel 400 CID V8 in its GTO model in 1967. In previous years, they offered a 389 CID V8 with a choice of carburetors, including a single four-barrel or three two-barrels known as “Tri-Power.”
According to the January 1967 issue of Hot Rod magazine, a 1967 Pontiac GTO 400 Ram Air traveled 14.09 seconds in the quarter-mile traveling at 101 miles per hour.
81,722 1967 Pontiac GTOs were produced, with 571 equipped with the 400 Ram Air option.

According to the April 1967 Super Stock & Drag Illustrated magazine, a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 383 traveled 14.53 seconds in the quarter-mile at 97 miles per hour.
Production figures totaled 1,841 on the 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 383.

According to the January 1967 issue of Car Life magazine, a 1967 Buick GS ran a 14.70-second quarter-mile time traveling 97 miles per hour.
19,001 1967 Buick Gran Sports were produced including GS 340 and GS 400 models. As for the GS 400 models, there were 1,014 sedans, 10,659 hardtops, and 2,059 convertibles.

In the July 1967 issue of Motor Trend magazine, a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 went 14.9 seconds in the quarter-mile traveling 96.5 miles per hour.
63,006 1967 Chevelle SS 396 models were produced between 59,685 hardtops and 3,321 convertibles.

The final top 10 fastest muscle cars of 1967 is the 1967 Shelby GT500 428 Cobra Jet rated at 355 horsepower with 420 lb-ft of torque.
In the February 1967 issue of Car & Driver magazine, a “Super Stang” 67 Shelby GT500 428 went down the quarter-mile in 15-seconds traveling 95 miles per hour.
There weren’t many of these made with only 2,047 1967 Shelby GT500s being produced.

Where does the 1967 Chevy nova SS 327 365 hp fit in.
I notice the only time ford was close to mopar dominance was getting outside assistance from Shelby by putting their best setup in a go cart basically imagine a hemi in a cobra I got no respect for ford
A Chevy 396 L78 with 375 hp engine has as much or more horsepower than the Ford 427 with 480 hp that was in the Cobra. Ford’s 428 made more power than their 427SC Cobra engine.
