Goodguys’ 2nd Annual RaceDeck Salt Lake City Nationals took over the Utah State Fairgrounds from May 21-23, 2021.

Hundreds of stunning vehicles, including hot rods, classic cars, wagons, custom trucks, low riders, and muscle cars descended into Salt Lake City for a three-day car show, autocross, swap meet, and burnout contest.

Vintage vehicles came from all over the Western United States, including Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, and Idaho to display their vintage rides with hopes of winning their respective judging classes.

This three-day event didn’t disappoint, easily tripling the number of entrants and participants over the prior year’s inaugural Goodguys RaceDeck Salt Lake City Nationals event. It’s amazing what one year and a vaccine can do for attendance.

Notwithstanding some rain showers on Saturday, the crowd was happy to walk the rows of cars, chat with other car enthusiasts, eat good food, and go to an open event where they could get some sunshine on their faces and breathe in the fresh air.

The swap meet was roughly the same size as last 2020, with many of the same dealers returning. Everything from parts to tools to vehicles was on display for passerbys on the hunt looking for good deals.

Several significant Muscle Cars were in attendance this year, with a good showing across the Big three and American Motors. While General Motors easily outnumbered all other manufacturers, a Ford took home “Muscle Car of the Year” honors.

Several “day one” and “day two” Muscle Cars caught my eye, including a Grabber Orange 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, Lemans Blue 1969 Chevelle SS 396, Green Go 1971 Dodge Charger R/T 440 6-Pack, and a Maroon 1963 Ford Galaxy 500 427 Convertible.

Clearly, the Goodguys RacDeck Salt Lake City Nationals car show is gaining momentum from near and far and I can’t wait to see what classic American muscle cars next year’s show will bring.
